Creative writing is an age-old tradition for self-expression and social commentary. By learning the difference between imitation and innovation by studying the works of great writers and literary techniques, students increase their imaginative capacity and have the ability to tell stories that endure. As a creative writing minor, students learn the craft of writing in various genres through workshops in creative writing, poetry, fiction, and non-fiction. As students explore different styles and expand their writing skills they generate a writing portfolio that highlights their work.
